I tried the OBJ export from Poser, and this time I get a white material, but still no color map. Since it doesn't sound like a good idea to be able to manipulate a Poser figure in Bishop3D anyway, I will check out DAZ. I haven't tried that program (or rawscript either).

Hi John,
The rawscript plugin is a feature of Bishop3D that allows us to write SDL. StephenS has done some clever things with it. For instance using the trace() function.

Amazing that DAZ is free. Looks like it does a lot. And yes, Poser 2 does seem a little outdated. It was fun getting it to work at all in Vista :o

Mainly I just want to be able to manipulate and animate a figure in Bishop3D to create some POV animations. More cartoon-like than realistic would be ideal. I'll dig into DAZ.

You really don’t want to manipulate a poser figure in Bishop3D. I took a look at doing it and gave up when I saw that all the sub meshes have a centre of rotation at the origin. It would be a bucketful of work just getting the centres of rotation where they should be.
I was going to upload an IK manikin I made with Bishop3D when it was in Alpha or Beta some years ago but there is something wrong with the scene that needs debugging. StephenS had one on his website but it disappeared with geocities IIRC

Stephen I like your dream animation. Very nice and life-like movements. That TC-RTC seems like fun. Maybe someday I will have something good enough to enter.

Thanks, I got the motion files years ago from some American University website. The TC-RTC is fun and you are more than welcome to join whenever you want.
BTW I should say that Thomas de Groot and I have just taken over the administration of the site on the death of Steve Paget (St from the PovRay newsgroups).

I have made some animations, pictures, and even a couple utilities (that were included in the POV Ray CD) many years ago. Just now getting back into ray tracing. I missed it.

JohnK rings a bell with me. I only started using PovRay in1998 and never got to see the CD. :(

Thanks again. Looks like I have some more programs to learn and play with!

That is the fun of it.
